Company Profile

From a national icon to an international player
With a proven track record built on an excellent tradition of professionalism, integrity, innovation and superior service delivery, Guaranty Trust Bank has since incorporation in 1990 remained one of the fore runners in the premier league of banks in Nigeria.
Within this period; the Bank has taken its operations; beyond the shores of Nigeria, to the West African sub-region and is now etching significant landmarks on the international business map. The latest of these landmarks is the Bank’s recent listing on the London Stock Exchange. This feat; the first of its kind by an African Bank and a Nigerian company, came on the heels of the resounding success of it’s $750 million offer for subscription of Global Depositary Receipts (“GDRs”). Preceding this was the Bank’s highly successful $350 million Eurobond offer which was another first of its kind by any Nigerian Institution.
These international strides are further testimonials of the Bank’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria's most profitable and fastest growing Banks while lending credence to its AA- (double A minus) by Fitch; and BB- (double B minus) by Standard & Poor's, the best ratings assigned by the two international rating agencies to any West African Bank. Worthy of note is the fact that the Standard and Poor’s rating is the same as Nigeria’s sovereign rating. Within the Nigerian market, the Bank stands tall with a (triple A) Aaa credit risk rating from Agusto & Co; the leading credit rating agency in Nigeria.
Guaranty Trust Bank is a recipient of several awards which includes: the Most Respected Financial Institution by PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Bank of the Year and the Most Customer Friendly Bank in Nigeria by Vanguard Newspapers.
Furthermore, the Bank has earned confidence from various business communities thereby being a subject of several case studies by reputable local and international business schools including Harvard Business School and Cranfield University.
Presently, Guaranty Trust Bank operates from over 154 locations in Nigeria with banking subsidiaries in The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia and UK. Its superior service culture is also manifest in its non-bank subsidiaries in Nigeria namely: GT Assurance Plc, GTB Registrars Limited, GTHomes Limited and GTB Asset Management Limited.
