Aurecon is the new global group created by the recent coming together of three world-class companies; South Africa’s largest infrastructure consultancy, Africon; one of Asia Pacific’s largest and most experienced multidisciplinary consultancies, Connell Wagner; and Ninham Shand, one of South Africa’s most established engineering and environmental consultancies. Combined, the new global group has a 210-year history and anticipated revenues that will see it ranked among the top 60 global consulting companies.
With a staff complement of 6 700, Aurecon provides a broad range of multidisciplinary professional technical services spanning a wide range of engineering disciplines, from asset and facility management, civil engineering, construction supervision and electrical and power system engineering to mining engineering, project management, structural engineering, traffic engineering and water engineering.
The global group has an extensive office network encompassing 22 offices throughout South Africa; 14 offices in Portuguese- and English-speaking African countries; three offices in the Middle East; a further 47 offices situated throughout the Asia Pacific region including India; and an office in Chile, South America.
A cross-section of current and recently completed projects includes the construction of a new Central Terminal Building at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg; the Berg Water Project in the Western Cape Province; Palm Trilogy development for the United Arab Emirate’s largest property group Nakheel; the Gautrain Rapid Rail Link between Pretoria and Johannesburg; Thai Airways hangar at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand; the Nova Vida Housing Development in Luanda, Angola; the EastLink Tollway Project in Melbourne, Australia; the 45 000-seat Peter Mokaba sports stadium, which is being constructed in the Limpopo Province as part of the preparations for the 2010 Soccer World Cup; the Lake Bonney Wind Farm project in South Australia; and the Moatize Coal project in Mozambique.
