Orica Mining Services’ presence in China dates back to 1997, when it established the first cooperative foreign joint venture in Chinese civil explosives industry - Orica (Weihai) Explosives Co., Ltd located at the east China coastal city of Weihai in Shandong Province.
Pursuing a vision “to be recognized as the supplier of choice for quality explosives and blasting solutions in the North Asia region”, Orica Mining Services has established three entities in mainland China ten years after its entry into China, providing commercial explosives, initiating systems, blast based services and mobile mixing and charging units to many industries including the open cut coal, open cut metal, underground mining, quarrying and construction industries.
